APL Cargo Readiness Coordinator in Norfolk, Virginia

This position will be responsible to:

  • Tracks, monitors, and follows up on timely delivery of cargo by customers.

  • Contact customers for missing Shipping Instructions in support of NDNL procedures communicating the consequences for failing to submit on time.

  • Act as liaison on Documentation concerns between the SSC and External customers as well as CCA functional teams in order to process customs filings and close vessels in a timely manner

  • Manage shipment follow-up and call cleaning based upon cargo and documentation delivery

  • Coordinate actions with Cargo Flow and Cargo Care providing alerts and taking actions to insure clean load lists at the time of cut

  • Manage cut and load lists and provide direction to other teams to insure accuracy in LARA including reconciliation of issues and problems

  • Coordinate with Port Operations to ensure that self-propelled vehicle shipments adhere to CBP title requirements and CMA CGM internal requirements

  • Proactively contact sales executives and customers with falls downs or missing shippers for any given sailing in order to react effectively to ensure full vessels. Work with Field Sales and Sales Management to ensure a cooperative and coordinated focus

  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

  • High School degree required.

  • Ability to work independently within a team environment while being able to meet deadlines.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments and individuals.

  • Ability to multitask with multiple deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as telephone/e-mail etiquette.

  • Good attention to detail and strong organization abilities with excellent follow-up skills.

  • Strong analytical skills to assess situations, identify trends, and resolve problems.

  • Ability to make decisions based upon guidelines.

  • Ability to recognize events and issues that should be raised to other teams.

  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based upon data analysis.

  • Possess effective time management skills.

  • Strong basic computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Must be available to work 10am-7pm, Monday thru Friday.

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Preferred:

  • Associates Degree preferred.

  • Minimum one year of work experience preferred.

  • Preference for Internal Candidates to have basic knowledge of Cargo Readiness general operating procedures, company operating programs and terminal operating systems.

  • Basic knowledge of USA geography preferred.

  • Working knowledge in Excel to use Pivot Tables
