The selectee for this position will serve as a HR Specialist (Employee Benefits) GS-0201-07 KPP 11for the OCHR NORFOLK OPERATIONS CENTER.
Selectees are appointed to a position with promotion potential (e.g. selected at the GS-5 grade with potential to the GS-11). Incumbents may be non-competitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Promotion is neither implied nor guaranteed.

- You will assist in relaying policy on the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS), Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) and Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI).
- You will assist to prepare retirement annuity and service credit (civilian and military) computations utilizing GRB software.
- You will utilize Defense Civilian Personnel Data Systems (DCPDS) and Defense Civilian Payroll System (DCPS) to update and process benefits transactions and research benefits information.
- You will prepare standard operating procedures, letters, memos and emails.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

To qualify for GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate that you have successfully completed one full year of graduate level education OR you have have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement OR you have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. * Experience assisting with retirement/ employee benefits briefings for serviced employees utilizing practical knowledge of retirement, health and life insurance laws, regulations, and policies. * Experience using a data personnel system and payroll system to assist with processing personnel actions regarding retirement and/or employee benefits. * Experience with Microsoft Office systems to assist with administrative function of a retirement and benefits program.
