Virginia State Government Financial Aid Advisor in Williamsburg, Virginia
This position will provide full customer service to students in the area of Financial Aid and Veteran Services at the Historic Triangle and/or Hampton campus, depending on the needs of the campuses. These duties include greeting students/families, answering telephone and e-mail inquiries, assisting students with applications, answer questions and initiate file completion. Assist students in applying for and maintaining financial aid/veteran benefits, review of documents to compare with financial aid application data for accuracy. Assist with responses to Blackboard Escalation Tickets. Employee must also have the ability to work with a wide variety of offices to coordinate services to students (i.e., enrollment services).
Associate degree in business, human services or related area or equivalent experience and/or training. Experience working in a college or university financial aid office and Veterans Services Office. Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills. Must possess spreadsheet, data entry and automated correspondence skills. The ability to work in a high volume customer service and production environment; to understand, apply and explain complex financial aid and Veteran Affairs regulations and processes to parents and students. Experience working with veteran benefits. Experience working with a relational database. Experience working with student information system (SIS) and VAONCE experience. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.
Bachelor degree in business, human services or related area. Experience working in a community college financial aid and Veteran Services office. Experience using PeopleSoft Student Information System.
Hours of Duty: Not to exceed 29 hours per week, Monday – Friday, varies to include evening and weekend hours.
