Green Mountain Coffee Production Manager, Nights - Windsor in Windsor, Virginia

As a Production Manager, you will be accountable for roasting, production, and packaging management including the planning and execution of activities necessary to meet product production volumes, and contributing to overall company profits through management of high standards of quality, safety, cost control, employee involvement while supporting our Continuous Process Improvement initiatives. You will report on the operating results for the production areas to the Director of Plant Operations and work to streamline the efficiency of production with an emphasis on quality, safety, and improved results period to period. You will be responsible for the effective leadership and management of manufacturing team leaders/supervisors, technicians, and 75 hourly production employees.

HOURS : Rotating nights, with every other weekend off (6pm - 6:15am)

What you will do:

  • Responsible for delivery results for all production lines and all shifts at the facility.

  • Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.

  • Develops and inspires others by building and maintaining relationships that motivate, guide, and / or reinforce the performance of others toward goal accomplishments.

  • Develop analytical tools and reports in order to manage supply chain performance.

  • Analyze performance data in order to report operating results of the production area to the Director of Plant Operations.

  • Work to streamline efficiency of production emphasizing quality, safety, and improved financial results quarterly.

  • Creates and manages the annual production budget, determining overall cost per pound relative to profitability.

  • Requires capacity and staff planning ability with variable and fixed expense planning expertise.

  • Develops productivity tracking metrics to determine performance year to year and determines productivity improvements as needed

  • Develops staff and capacity planning models in conjunction with budget, determining personnel expense and year to year productivity rates

  • Develops, sponsors and implements productivity improvements and oversee the production quality performance and conformance

  • Improves strategies for production process such as cost reduction, space utilization, safety and cleanliness

  • Performs ROI (Return on Investment) analysis cost justifying changes and process improvements

  • Oversees inventory control procedures and ensures accuracy goals are achieved, with operating policy and procedural documentation maintained and up to date

  • Works directly with Director of Plant Operations and cross-functionally with the Facilities, Maintenance, and QC departments to improve quality, streamline efficiencies, reduce operating expenses, and improve inventory accuracy.

What you must have:

  • Four-year Bachelors’ degree and/or 7 years of intensive food-related manufacturing management with a supervisory focus of 75 /- employees

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and a firm knowledge of productivity tracking

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of fundamentals of lean manufacturing, pull and visual systems, and Total Quality Management (TQM)

  • Overall knowledge and experience with SAP, PeopleSoft ERP or similar systems

  • Demonstrated leadership, supervisory skills and team motivational skills

  • Proven equipment troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with self-motivation and focused attention to detail

  • Must be able to travel occasionally, work in a team environment, and occasionally work a flexible schedule

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally

  • Ability to frequently kneel, squat, bend and stoop

  • Ability to twist, kneel and reach overhead occasionally
